Unit 30054
Category: Layer dug in 2016
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: Repair to west edge of hearth and surface 30055.
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: feature; Description: hearth; Deposition: homogeneous
Description: Excavated in lumps. The deposit came away from lower deposits sharply in large angular pieces.
Discussion: Truncated edges of 30055 revealed by removal of 30054 were irregular and rounded, indications of damage in antiquity. Continuing over edge of F.7957 along northern and western edges of surface 30055 and sealed earlier F.7979. The profile of 30055 respected that of 30055. The levels of 30054 show that it formed a continuous flat surface with 30055 sealing the earlier phase of hearth F.7957. the in-filling of a break in 30055 and the making-good of 30055 by 30054 suggest that 30054 is a repair to Surface 30055 and F. 7957.
