Unit 30432

Category: Layer    dug in 2014

Area: TPC

Interpretive Categories: burial infill

Data Category Information: Location: cut; Description: burial; Deposition: homogeneous

Discussion: After cleaning the surface layer we noticed a distinct outline. Based on the similarities of this outline to other features in the TPC area it was determined that this was a post-Neolithic burial. At first we thought that this unit would contain human remains at the bottom of it. After removing some of the infill we exposed mudbrick grave markers, indicating that this was a niche burial. This meant that the body would not be located in this pit, but in one underneath it. This unit served as burial infill for the antechamber of the burial.
