Description: The unburnt portion of this conyext has been described above. This portion survived at the west end of unit only, was covered by a white plaster and ran for 0.19m of the total length of 32538.

The burnt element of 32538 which represented the majority of the unit was a red friable, biscuit textured deposit. The matrix and basal boundary characteristics of this burnt portion were the same as that of the unburnt portion.

Discussion: The 'superstructure' of F.7967, a Kerb (2015 described as a 'Threshold) delineating an annexe to the main area of B.131.

It respected the contours of the underlying plaster surface, 32539, which sloped steeply to the west, respecting the east face of Wall 7710. At the west end of 7967, 32538 was overlain by the wall plaster of the east face of Wall 7710: 22665. NB: a further number 32359 was assigned to a wall plaster on the east face of Wall 7710, however, there was no information rearding this number therefore it is difficult to ascertain the stratigraphic relationships thus the number assigned in the 2015 season has been retained and used.

The interface between 32538 and Wall 7710 was sealed at the west end of the feature along its south face by a red painted plaster upon the south face of Wall 7707. Apparently un-numbered this context was overlain by three main episodes of replastering of 7707. During on-site discussions with I.Hodder it was decided that the later plaster should be left for later excavation and that though 'out of phase' the excavation of 32538 should proceed.
