Unit 32608
Category: Skeleton dug in 2016
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: Skeleton
Data Category Information: none
Discussion: Skeleton exposed during the digging process of the room infill U3606 in the main room Sp. 605 of the building 161. This skeleton seems to be thrown out from the south of the building, because the body follow the inclination S-N of the layer. We couldn’t define a burial cut for that skeleton, so we think that the body was just thrown out t and was sloping following the inclination of the primary infill, until the body reach the partition wall F8159, were it stops. The skull of that skeleton was clearly abutting the partition wall. The presence of the phytoliths under and on parts of the body can indicate that there was something around the body when they thrown.
We assigned an arbitrary layer U32611, around the body as an infill, but this layer have the same composition and characteristics than the room infill.
Both elements, the “infill” and the skeleton was deposit on the primary room infill U32616. The skeleton is in the study process from the human remains lab team,
Microfauna (MF) found on and around skeleton. On femur and abdomal area, and next to skeleton. Around skeleton measured in with total station on 04/07/2016. Coordinates: MF1 927.15-968.26-1003-60 / MF2 927.29-968.09-1003.64 / MF3 927.55-967.86-1003.69 / MF4 928.23-968.28-1003.58 / MF5 928.15-968.91-1003.48 / MF6 927.65-968.79-1003.49 --> however, Marek says there was microfauna in the whole fill and not only above the skeleton - this has to be confirmed by floatation
At cranium and below body many phitolyths in cross pattern - body on matting?
A tooth was found between the ribs and the left scaphoid was found near the acromion of the left scapula - indication of delayed burial?

Finds Room Information:
All material from site passes through the finds room for washing and separating before it is passed onto the various lab teams. The finds room keeps a basic inventory of what is found. A finds material type list is given here. Further analytical detail maybe provided by the Lab Team data below.
