Discussion: Wall plaster found below (4122) feature 410. Wall collapsed from the east falling ntact face down, hence plaster face below bricks and mortar. Covers an irregular area and probably shattered on impact, though (4122) retained its form with little impact movement.

Plaster up to 4cm thick with odd traces of red and black paint, but nothing contiguous and nothing retrievable. Plaster consists of laminations of pale grey brown mud undercoat with lime plaster wash. See sample 3 for plaster count.

Plaster probably continues below (4123) which would indicate a continuous plaster face through two phases of wall 

 

Recognition: off white laminated below collapsed wall 

Definition: easily recognisable limits of plaster to surrounding deposits 

Execution: trowel 

Condition: heavily root disturbed due to overnight exposure, dew and recent rain 

Consistency: friable 

Colour: off yellow white 

Texture: smooth limey 

Bedding: lamenated 

Inclusions: occasional charcoal flecks <2mm flecking 

Post-depositional Features: heavly cracked 

Basal Boundary: clear and sharp
