Dimensions: 4.66 m E-W x 0.05 m x 0.75 m overall depth 

 

Discussion: Plaster face overlying the S. facing wall in space 164, Building 7. Partly surviving, but with substancial remnants in the central area, and smaller deposits towards W & E. limits. Generally dry, and easy to peel off the brick and mortar, though some of the larger frags. ( around 50mm thick ), were slightly moist against the wall surface. Average thickness of the plaster varied between 5-10mm though 10-15mm was common throughout. The largest frags. were approx. 1.0m E of the W. nail - one of which was kept as a plaster sample. Approx. 38 litres excavated overall. 

 

Recognition: white plaster face partly surviving 

Definition: clear definition from exposed wall behind plaster face 

Execution: towel 

Condition: dry. very slightly moist in thickest fragments at wall face 

Consistency: soft to firm 

Colour: off-white 

Texture: lime plaster ( silt ) 

Bedding: layered 

Inclusions:  

Post-depositional Features: minor small root disturbance 

Basal Boundary: constructional, distinct, slightly wavy
