Unit 6266
Category: layer dug in 2000
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: fire installation
Data Category Information: none
Discussion: Under the packing of unit 6265 this layer was found. Consisting of central patch ( 25cmx25cm) of thin veil of ash sitting on compacted yellowish floor, around which ring of much darker (brown and burnt) soil was found. Thus reveallig a depression dug into platform 169 with norrower patch of ash indicating zone of fire and burnt ring of soil around it. Probably this is representing burning reminas just above the floor hich will be dug as following unit.
The unit was truncated by another cut F. 604, a.k.a. "hole" on the sketch. Only southern edge was truncated, neverthe less indicating that this feature (fire installation F.630) predates the feature 604, which was then probably cut from a higher floor level of the platform 9f. 165).
On closer inspection "brown burnt" zone could be subdivided into ellipsoid (30 cm diam) zone of more intensly burnt soil and brownish band around it of more sub-rectangular shape
