Discussion: Removal of first floor level in northern end of S.158. Came down to a smooth but irregular surface. The second floor was a whittish surface with spots of white/yellowsih/orange spots of clay and plaster. A flint tool was found in a small bin structre up against the west wall. 

 

Recognition: area betwwn west & screen wall S.158 

Definition: clear up to the surrounding walls 

Execution: trowel, leaf trowel, brush 

Condition: very dry, hot 

Consistency: firm, pressure from trowel 

Colour: 7.5 YR 6/6 reddish yellow 

Texture: silty clay loam 

Bedding: massive, almost flat 

Inclusions: aggregates of plaster/ clay, white/yellow 

Post-depositional Features: one animal hole 

Basal Boundary: sharp smooth anthropic
