Unit 6952
Category: layer dug in 2004
Area: TP
Interpretive Categories: mudbrick wall in N part of an extension
Data Category Information: none
Dimensions: 1.70 x 0.30 x 0,44
Discussion: It is a mudbrick wall situated in N part of an extension an its E edge. It was distinguished in season 2001 because it was visible in W section of the main trench. It was oriented N-S and consisted of 3 layers of mud bricks. The wall was partly destroyed mainly in N part so the dimensions of the bricks differ. In the 1st layer (the uppermost one) only 2 bricks were noticed of dimensions (0,34x0,24x0,14m) - approximately - they were not damaged very much. In the 2nd layer there were 5 bricks and their dimensions were more varied - especially in width which ranged from 0,30 to 0,15m, the length (0,35m) and height (0,10m) of the bricks were more or less the same. The third layer was darker, the bricks were the best preserved and it seemed more fixed. There were 6 mud bricks in this 3rd (last) layer and they differed in length (0,30 to 0,33), width (0,27 to 0,09m) and height (0,09 to 0,11m).
The wall 6952 was placed on a basement build of big stones. On the same basement there was build another wall - unit 8987 - and their relation to this stony basement as well as their relation to the floor (unit 8986) - in which similar stones were placed - between them (walls 6952 and 8987 form a shape of L) is the cause of describing them as 'same as'.
However the wall 8987 is worse preserved.
On the floor (unit 8986) a mating (unit 8984) was placed which was backing against both walls (6952 and 8987) - and a small layer between them 8945. That is why a sample of mating has been taken.
Remark: there are 2 sheets for this unit, the matrix needs to be checked!!!
