Unit 7952
Category: layer dug in 2004
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: bin,room fill,stepping platform
Data Category Information: Location: feature; Description: bin; Deposition: heterogeneous; Basal Spit: basal deposit
Discussion: Tracking: Full-On. This unit is a collection of several plastered bricks that are attached to the south wall near an oven. Our first thought is that it may have served as a stepping platform from the roof.
The excavation of this unit revealed a broken and uneven layer of plaster which may have been a plaster bin, with wall fall on top, smashing the surface. The southern end of the unit contains some mudbrick packing. This is the first unit of feature 1652. The front of the feature is plastered all the way to the ground, creating a northern boundary but drops off to the east. The feature is the fill inside the plaster.
Total volume of unit estimated in PX (DE 18/07/09). I think this unit was all sent to flotation - but I am not sure of this!
