Discussion: This unit is the profile visible under units 7964 and 7966. The unit's top boundary is where the plaster ends on these two units, and the lower boundary is the floor surface of unit 7960. The profile shows a series of thin, unplastered floors or surfaces. Excavation of the units 7960 and 7961, which were to the east of the current profile and should have contained the surfaces visible in the profile, did not reveal any surfaces visible to the excavator. The surfaces may be very thin and hard to recognize. The profile also looks very similar to the profile found in F.1666 and in the front of the basin. It is believed that all three units contain the same surfaces, perhaps a floor or a unplastered platform.
However, since these floors are below a number of features, the extend the purpose of these surfaces remains unclear, and remains to be excavated. The surface of the bin in feature 1652 cuts into these surfaces, and the plaster of all walls associated with the bin end at the same elevation as the striations visible in the profile begin. It is therefore interpreted that this unit represents the earliest phase in feature 1652, upon which all other units in the feature were built. It seems that this surface or unplastered platform ends at the hearth, unit number 7851, but the relationship between the two remains unclear as neither unit has been excavated.
Recognition: striated playering below plaster of unit 7966
Definition: profile of unplastered surfaces on western side of bin
