Unit 8504

Category: layer    dug in 2002

Area: North

Interpretive Categories: rim

Data Category Information: none

Dimensions: R = 50 cm

Discussion: At fist this unit was believed to comprise second floor in feature 778. That is why samples 3-4 were taken from its surface. However, it turned out to be necessary to remove remains f the oven's rim first, and then to have a clear definition of the second floor. The rim was removed at once, and together with the soil that was at the base of floor 1. A sequence of floors of 778 was established in relation to the surrounding floors. First floor coresponds with floor #10 in this area (unit 8378), second floor should be contemporary with floor #11 (unit 8449), while rim is sitting on floor #12 (now visible white plaster around the oven). In the profile of an animal hole one can see that below this more or less white plaster floor around the oven, there is another layer of burning, and one more floor beneth. That layer of burnet material could beconnected with feature 778.
