Unit 8539
Category: layer dug in 2002
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: base and rim
Data Category Information: none
Discussion: Rim of the oven comprised by this unit represents the rim pf the 2nd phase of the oven. It consisted of stuffed sandy clay, scorched in some parts, and the overlying floor layers (2 of them) which are in fact extensions of the regular kitchen floors in western half of (floors #12 and #13). After removing these floors, it became clear that the oven was sitting on floor #14, probably the last one in the kitchen.
Base of the oven consisted of sandy burnt clay, loose, of various colors (yellow, red, brown) with inclusions such as ash, charcoal, scorched clay, small stones, obsidian chips, fragments of bones, shells, etc. After removing the base, a shallow concave surface (but not a cut) was exposed.
