Discussion: From BACH 2002 excavations:
The basket is exposed and a sample is taken under the unit 8595, which was the fill above. It will be dug in 2003 season, will be sampled. The basket contain an infant burial. The top layer of basket is lid of the basket.
From 2012 excavations:
The basket was exposed in 2002. It was damaged by an animal burrow. Stabilized in 2002 and left for future excavation. There were bones from another individual directly under the basket (sk. 8598). To protect these bones (and the infant's bones) we decided not to try to lift the basket in one piece. While an archive sample was taken, the basket was included within the fill of unit 19439. Flotation sample was not taken.
