Discussion: This layer lies directly under the row of mortar (u. 8634). It consists of rows of bricks and mortar. At the beginning we planned to remove separately the bricks and the mortar but we could not do this because the bricks were stuck to the mortar underneath. So we excavated bricks and mortar together. The bricks were made of silty clay, which was very compact in consistency, light brown in colour. The mortar was loose in consistency and light gray in colour.
After removing two rows of bricks and mortar we came to the bottom row of bricks and after that we started to remove the layer of mortar between the S wall (F. 763) and F. 1006 (see S3).
S3 - Mortar between the dowble wall (F. 763) and F. 1006. It is loose in consistency and light gray to gray in colour, brown at some spots.
