Area: North
Interpretive Categories: burial fill - arbitrary layer
Data Category Information: Location: cut; Description: burial; Deposition: homogeneous

Discussion: While I was cleaning the surface 8858, I detected the skull of sk. 8857. The fill was in the midden area and it was not possible to be distinguished from the rest of the midden. In spite ofthe ''fast-track'' sampling technique, we decided to dry sieve this unit (the burial fill) since it was cut into the midden (U. 8854) and probably backfilled with the same material.
The fill (U. 8855) cosisted of ashy midden, light gray to gray in colour, containing the usual inclusions - animalbones, obsidian flakes, pottery sherds, charcoal, smallstones, etc. We were also not able to identify the relation ofthe grave with the gray surface (U. 8858).
Recognition: a skull in the midden
Definition: diffuse grave pit, unrecognizable
Execution: trowel, dental pick, brush
