Discussion: It is a dark layer in S part of an extension around an oven (?) - unit 8968. It consisted of 2 layers- upper one lighter in colour, lower - darker but both of friable consistency.

Execution: trowel 

Condition: hot and dry 

Consistency: friable 

Colour: light grey - upper layer; dark brown - lower layer 

Texture: silty sand 

Bedding: layered - two layers - lighter and darker 

Inclusions: pottery, obsidian, CBM, bones, fragment of copper (?) - very small 

Post-depositional Features: plant root 

Basal Boundary: prominent in N part (unit 8967 over the compact floor), distinct in S part
