Discussion: To the western side of space 228 plaster was encountered at a higher level than acros the rest of the space. This was overlain by patches of orange sandy clay. The thickness of the plaster and the presence of patchy layers of phtoliths across the underside suggests that this unit may have be wall collapsed down onto building fill 10028. Its presence adjacent to the wall is consistent with this interpretation. The patches of orange sandy clay do not appear to be mud-brick as it is of a completely different texture to the mudbricks in the wall to the east. The sandy clay is more typical of mouldings within buildings but no form was identified to the material.
Changed intergpretation on 14 july - I now think that this layer is a portionoof surviving floor close to the wall and is equvilent to 10041 and 10042 and the orange sandy clay is the remains of a badly truncated bench or other internal feature.
