Discussion: The grave fill layer was clearly defined by an outline of wood around the edges of the pit. Furthermore, the pit was covered by two horizontal planks excavated earlier by Hussein. Two vertical posts to the west of the pit mark the boundary of the fill, vertical planks to the north and the south, and vertical posts to the east. The fill consistency varies- soil that had been exposed too long was hard and light brown. Upon further excavation it became clear that the fill was made up of different patches of soil, including soft, dark, ashy lenses, soft light orange-brown clay, salty soil deposits, bits of wood and plaster, and friable medium brown patches. At least one nail has been recovered from the west of the pit, other inclusions are obsidian, pottery, glass, faunal bone, root and animal disturbance.
