Unit 10448
Category: layer dug in 2004
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: Make up layer
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: floor (packing only); Material: pise-like; Deposition: homogeneous
Discussion: Make-up layer between plaster surfaces (10448) and (10451). Appears to represent some form of packing surface, sandwiched in between the surfaces. Cutting this deposit is grave F1511 [10447]. Seen in the section provided by Mellaart excavations, and proved by the removal of (10448), the grave is cut through this make up layer, and not either plaster surface, a feature rarely seen. Does this mean that the final plaster phase acts as a closure on the burial?
Four small pebbles found in very close proximity to F1508 in which 24 pebbles were found - possibly associated?
Recognition: Seen after removal of plaster surface (10407)
Definition: truncated to Nand E, defined by platform F1501 to S and W
Execution: Trowel, leaf and brush
Condition: Dry
Consistency: Loose and friable
Colour: Mid yellowish brown
Texture: Silt
