Unit 10711
Category: layer dug in 2004
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: Room Fill
Data Category Information: Location: building; Deposition: heterogeneous
Dimensions: 2.8 x 3.8 x 0.95 m
Discussion: This is a completely homogeneous room fill deposit which appears to have been finely churned prior to deposition- there are no recognizable pieces of brick or plaster more than 0.01m in diameter. There were also extremely few finds within the fill- several pieces of bone and a few of obsidian- but essentially it is an almost clean fill. This suggests that it may represent a single deliberate backfilling episode to finish the use of the space. It seems that at the same time or slightly later part of the south wall of the building collapsed and the bricks and fill spilled outwards (south) into the area which became midden.
