Discussion:
After excavation of unit 10739, which made it apparent that this unit was overlying middin deposits it was decided to excavate it before the end of the season. On removal of about 0.1m of brick rubble a burnt layer was reached and a deliberate placing of bricks could be seen around its perimeter. The roof of the oven must have been removed, possibly at the abandonment of the building and thus the floors were left exposed and ended up covered with the brick debris which comprised this unit. The unit may represent the remains of the wall from above the oven mouth which later collapsed under the stress from the backfilling of the room.
