Unit 10969
Category: Layer dug in 2005
Area: TP
Interpretive Categories: oven infill
Data Category Information: Location: feature; Description: oven
Discussion: This is an infill of a pit, in which an oven was placed. The inner part of this oven was excavated as unit 8968, while its cut was recorded as unit 10968.
The oven and the pit, in which it was situadted were placed in possibly older pit of trapezoid shape - excavated as units 11717 (infill), 11718 (cut). It is however probable that this bigger (elder ?) pit was also assoiated with the oven, as its infill consisted of ashy, blueish deposits.
The oven was surrounded by compact Roman floors (unit 10971 and 10977), one of which possibly slipped down because of the ustable construction of an oven and surrounding deposits.
