Unit 11204

Category: layer    dug in 2004

Area: South

Interpretive Categories: platform edge repairs

Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: feature; Description: raised area (platform); Material: mortar; Deposition: homogeneous

Discussion: seems to be a former edge or plaster wall repair boardering the rubbish fill as was seen on the other side of the trampled area (10697), partly trapping some of the rubbish (pot) below. Came away with some rubbish pit fill too, looks like a repair to the collapsing/eroded platform. Frees up the pot below which seems to be sitting in pit fill - although floors are also running up to it, and touching it. Removal of this edge really tidies up the area between pit and platform, and layers can be seen running down and under the pit fill
