Unit 11247
Category: Cut dug in 2004
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: possible ladder base
Data Category Information: Description: pit
Discussion: lies below fill 11231 stratiagraphıcally, suggests a plaster packıng was put ın? Hole ıs now roughly banana shaped - fıll was very compact and came away wıth some of the surround (also faırly compact) so the cut may not be the exact shape of the orıgınal hole. Although lower down the shape ıs much better defıned. Other fılls seem to have slıpped ın too from the rubbısh pır area - may represent a ladder settıng - rubbısh fıll slıps ınto hole, ladder removed and hole packed wıth hard earth as a block, softer earth would be remaıns of decay of ladder post placed alongsıde… ladder has uneven legs? Note; south sıde of house suffered from subsıdance (see lıttle sketch/doodle on unıt sheet)
