Unit 11379
Category: Layer dug in 2005
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: midden,rubble backfill
Data Category Information: In Situ: non in-situ; Location: external; Material: brick; Deposition: homogeneous
Discussion: Deposit consists of mudbrick debris and ashy charcoal silt. Some burnt mudbicks also, but only in NW part of deposit. Extends over area but thins out to east and south.
Within this deposit and to base of it are two animal bone and stone clusters; (11392+3). It would appear that these clusters were deposited at same time as (11379), as some of (11379) is above and below parts of each cluster. Clusters deposited between bucket loads? So pos ritual activity, bones from middens normally small and broken up, these are large. Feasting connected with dumping of construction material? so connected to construction/ deconstruction/ refurbishment of a house. Also worth noting deposit is external to a building, B53.
