Discussion: This is a second layer of a levelling under a Roman floor (unit 10988, space 249) in N part of an extension. The first make up layer under this floor was excavated as unit 11579. Unit 11590 differed from the latter by composing of a big amount of rubble, it was also more various in terms of colour - ranging from light grey to dark brown. Its consistency was firm (with compact inclusions) butit was also fragile as it was being easily peeled off from the basal boundary.
In the basal boundary of this unit some walls were noticed.
Within this unit two postholes were noticed - one situated near the middle of the unit (infill 11586, cut 11585) and the other in its E edge (infill 11586, cut 11587). Both of them were possibly associated with the Roman floor 10988.
The highest varried from 1017.50 (E) to 1017.59 (W) and the lowest differed from 1017.47 (E) to 1017.48 (W), which caused that heights ranged from 0.03 m in eastern part of the unit to 0.11 m in its western part.
