Unit 11741
Category: Cut dug in 2005
Area: TP
Interpretive Categories: pit cut
Data Category Information: Description: pit
Dimensions: 0.70 x 1.50 x 0,61
Discussion: This is a cut of a large pit situated in S part of an extension. There were 2 layers within it- units 11703 (upper one) and 11734 (lower one)- as well as massive animal burrowing, which because of its disturbing nature was given a separate unit number (11701). The base of the pit was divided into several smaller pits (cuts) possibly 6. It is possible that some big jars of pitoses was placed there, and this shape of the base was supposed to secure their upright position. At the base of the cut (between 2 western deeper 'sub cuts') a Neolithic burial was exposed- it was cut from both N & S sides by sub cuts of 11741. The burial was excavated as unit 11762. There has been also another burial (11720-skeleton, 11768-infill) on the S side of a11741 and it was slightly cut by cut 11741.
The pit cut from E & W sides between the walls (visible in sections) and it was also in relation to another pit- situated in the N side (units 11717- infill, 11718-cut), but it is impossible to say which of these pits was older.
Because of highly irregular shape of the boundary, the lowests ranged from 1016.90 to 1016.68, which resulted in differences in heights- reaching from 0.39 to 0.61m.
