Unit 11906
Category: Cluster dug in 2005
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: Bin fill
Data Category Information: Location: feature; Description: bin; Material: archaeobotanical; Deposition: primary deposition
Discussion: this unit of bin fill consisted of an almond concentration (sample no.1) and surrounding fill. The almond 'layer' sloped dam towards the east and along the north side of the bin, was resting on what appeared to be a mud brick 'ledge' stepped in from the plastered wall of the bin. In addition to a floatation sample (no.2) of the surrounding fill, a further sample (no.3) of chaff-tempered, plastered building material fragments was taken.
From the irregular and sloping basal boundary of the almond spread, it appears that this deposit was tipped in, over clayey, bricky fill.
After removal of the almond spread a wheat grain neli leus (including some almonds) was uncovered in the central -western part of the bin fill, and the end of the unit was thus defined.
