Unit 11982
Category: Skeleton dug in 2005
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: neolithic juvenile, probably disturbed (in part)
Data Category Information: none
Discussion: The skull of this individual was found first but because it was seated about 5 cm above the rest of the skeleton, it was initially thought of as a disturbed, isolated cranium. The rest of the skeleton was later found. Some disturbance had occurred such that the right lower arm, right foot and part of the left foot were missing. The skull did appear to have been displaced from the rest of the skeleton. The individual was tightly flexed on its back but inclined to the right side so much that the left leg was considerably higher than the right one. This skeleton was fragmented, especially those bones nearest to the surface. The lower placed bones were in better condition in general. No burial cut was evident although the basal boundary was quite distinct from the burial fill. The exact context of this individual relative to the floors of space 265 remains unclear. The individual was aged as an adolescent, possibly 14-16 years in the field. A more accurate age assessment will be made in the lab. The bones appeared to be well-developed in terms of length for an individual of this age.
Sealed by an erosion horizon 11962. There are no surviving secure occupation units within this space relating to B.54. FS
