Discussion: Wall plaster on wall F1491 with painted design in red and black. Painting consists of a vertical geometric design.
Section through the plaster appears to show painting earlier in the plastering sequence which is then sealed by a second relatively thick packing layer which is the basis of later repeated replastering.
Appears to be earlier than 13669 to the East. 

 

Recognition: painted red 

Definition: poor, in fact a number of different painted layers 

Execution: trowel - excavated by local women 

Condition: hot 

Consistency: firm 

Colour: white with red and black paint 

Texture: plastered 

Bedding: layered 

Inclusions: none 

Post-depositional Features: animal burrows, dry and cracked 

Basal Boundary: sharp, vertical
