Discussion:
Cut of Byzantine E-W aligned pit grave - no grave furniture identified but grave has been quite disturbed and truncated by later disturbance which may have removed the grave furniture/ capping as suggested by presence of some tile and stones. 

 

Recognition: Distinct from surrounding harder area; distinct from the later disturbance cuts 13730 and 13741, the latter of which truncats this grave and partially the skeleton lying within in 

Definition: clear 

Execution: trowel 

Condition: dry, dusty and sunny 

Shape: Oblong-subrounded, with steep sloping sides 

Sides: Steep and almost straight in some places 

Base Break: Sharp 

Base: Flat but slightly irregular in east where may cut an earlier grave 

Orientation: East-west
