Unit 14416
Category: Layer dug in 2006
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: floors
Data Category Information: Location: building; Description: raised area (platform); Material: mix (dark grey&white); Deposition: composite (floors/bedding/plaster/packing/occupation); Basal Spit: unpainted
Discussion: Unit including several floor layers, several of which (especially the white irregular plaster layer) are very worn and overlapping.
These floors come down onto a dirty grey floor layer that continues accorss the whole of this platform extension area.
The thickest area to the N was up to 3cm thick.
These floors are probably associated with the use of the oven as there are several ashy layers stratigraphically beneath both the hearths. There is the possibility that the white layer may relate to the plastering of the oven nich when it went out of use but this relationship cannot be proven.
