Description: Trench 9 

 

Discussion: The room fill seems to have been made of mudbrick crush, it was quite sterile and the layer was very thin. It came down onto a different room fill looking layer which is more brown. The layer (15469) was disturbed by gave cut [15436] to the west and came against a wall F.2806.

Execution: trowel, mattock, hoe 

Condition: hot and sunny 

Consistency: firm 

Colour: orangy brown 

Texture: clay 

Bedding: massive 

Inclusions: very occasional shell, bone, stone 

Post-depositional Features: plant action and animal burrows 

Basal Boundary: clear onto a more brown layer
