Unit 15825
Category: Layer dug in 2007
Area: TP
Interpretive Categories: mudbrick wall
Data Category Information: Location: wall/blocking; Material: brick; Deposition: heterogeneous
Discussion: This is a mudbrick wall recorded in Mellaart's plan from the 1960s excavations and dated to Level . It is arguably the eastern wall of his building 4. Mortar of his wall was recorded as unit 15286. All mudbricks were poorly made and were orangish in colour. They also comprosed quite a significant number of inclusions. There were 4 courses of bricks measuring as follows:
upper coourse: 02,/0,36/0,06m; 0,47/0,23/0,06m
2nd course:0,30/0,20/0,09; 0,40/0,26/0,09; 0,26/0,34/0,07; 0,84/0,28/0,08; 0,68/0,26/0,08
3rd course: 0,39/0,40/0,09; 0,12/0,44/0,09; 0,72/0,35/0,08-0,10; 0,44/0,28/0,08; 0,57/0,30/0,08; 0,70/0,28/0,09
bottom course: 0,40/0,34/0,09; 0,37/0,25/0,09
The bottom course was different in colour and consistency than the upper ones and the inclusions were more numerous there. Only two bricks were identifiable in this course- located in saouthernmost part of the wall. They were overlaying another mudbrick which seems to have continuation underneath wall 15836 and might belong to another, earlie,r wall.
