Discussion: Fill of wall cut on north-west side of 107. Clay soil with lumps of charcoal at times. Very pure clay soil with a very sharp edge towards West. 1591 seems continuous with North-South slot against West wall i.e.. both slots at same time. Slot indefinite, deeper in north-west corner. 

 

Execution: trowel 

Condition: hot and dry 

Consistency: firm 

Colour: 2.5Y 4/4 olive brown 

Texture: silty clay 

Bedding: massive 

Inclusions: 2% charcoal (2-10mm); <2% other 

Post-depositional Features: some salt scattered throughout 

Basal Boundary: anthropogenic- very sharp against midden layer beneath
