Unit description: Unit 1612, a dump with some construction debris, contained a moderate amount of bone from the dry sieve although the amount volume of the deposit is not given. Additionally, the 4mm flotation sample couldn't be found. The material from the dry sieve was well fragmented, a very high proportion of it had been digested and the occasional bone had been burnt within a wide range of temperatures. The animals represented by the remains are caprine, pig, cattle, equid and dog. The material was not overwhelming dominated by caprine like in some deposits and bones from the other species, except dog, were all well represented. The carpals, tarsals, skull frags and phalanges are well represented whilst the major meat bearing bones are considerably lower in number. However, fragmented long bone shafts and ribs are present in high proportions. Additionally, there was a large amount of pieces that were unidentifiable. It seems that that the deposit could be the domestic refuse that had been considerably worked over by dogs. The lack of elements identifiable to the meat bearing could have been caused by there complete digestion, whilst the bones of greater density, the lower limb elements and shaft fragments, survived with only there surface condition affected. Last number = 244
