Unit 16463
Category: Layer dug in 2008
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: grave fill
Data Category Information: Location: cut; Description: burial; Deposition: heterogeneous
Discussion: The fill of the burial was heavily disturbed by plant action and animal burrows. Because of the proximity to the surface (and the abundance of trampling throughout the season) the skeleton was already largely visible and in very poor condition. The north-eastern section of the burial was truncated by a late burial (16443), removing parts of the skeleton,, namely the feet. The fill also contains some of the fill (16473) from the juvinille burial below (16474).
Recognition: fill of grave in grave cut - but cut likely series of cuts in a multi-burial
Definition: poor
Execution: trowel, bamboo skewer, assorted dental tools
Condition: hot, dry and windy
Consistency: loose and friable
Colour: light greyish brown
Texture: silty clay
Bedding: massive (but possibly layered)
Inclusions: very occassional shell, obsidian; neolithic skeleton
Post-depositional Features: root disturbance and animal burrows, truncated by late burial
Basal Boundary: poor onto juvenile burial, sharper onto harder more grey layer
