Interpretive Categories: rubbly infilling 

 

Data Category Information: Location: in abandoned building; Deposition: coarsely bedded (dumps)

 

Dimensions: 1.40 NS x 1.30 EW depth: 0.30m 

 

Discussion: Rubbly layer infilling area to the south of a small internal walled feature (F96/72). Layer became less rubbly lower down and charcoal flecks increased. A brick apparently from the east side of F72 was found in this fill. A second 20 litre flotation sample was taken when carbonised seeds were found in the south east corner of the area. A section line running NS and half sectioning F72 was introduced before this layer was excavated. The layer continues west beyond the limit of this section

Condition: Awful wind, blinded by dust, but sunny! 

Consistency: moderately weak 

Colour: 10YR 3/3 Dark brown 

Texture: loam 

Bedding: Massive 

Inclusions: Shell obsidian, lake marl (?), bone, carbonised seeds <2%, charcoal 2%< 

Post-depositional Features: Disturbance from roots and animal burrows 

Basal Boundary: A flat but wavy and distinct boundary
