Discussion: layer of coarse plaster sealed by thin white plaster surface. This surface was painted red with 'negative' white hand decoration. Hand decoration was drawn, not traced around someone's hand (not based on reality). Hand decoration was sealed by flecks of orange and black paint, representing at least one later painted decoration. The S. Face of the platform was painted red with hand decoratio. The E face was painted red but with no decoration.
This unit appears to be one of a number of red painted layers representing a 'phase' of red painted decorationt hroughout the building. As well as (16666) there was red paint on F1494 (under 16677) F1493 and F1496. Wall F1660 (Eastern wall) was painted red between F1493 and F1496.
