Discussion: U. 16936 is located in sp. 449 and is an arbitrary layer under unit 15370 and 15380. It is characterized by 3 different soil types: in the eastern part in front of f. 3324, the soil is soft, smooth, with large inclusions of clay, few pottery daub, larger spots of dark soil and some white spots. The center of the unit is characterized by quite a mixed roomfill with lots of wall plaster, sticking vertically in darker crumbly soil with brownish and black patches. Towards f. 3324 are some ashy spots. Small clay lenses also belong to this part of the unit. The 3rd soil type is located in front of f. 5057, and is clay lenses, and no wall plaster (!). Several clay balls are showing up there, as well as a lot of groundstone. The soil in front of f.3326 gets more mixed up again. Remarkable are some firm brown spots, usually accompanied by smaller clay lenses. The unit was arbitrarily seperated from fill number 15370, as this unit was the fill around the building material 15380, so when this unit ended, both units were closed and fill unit 16936 was opened for the entire space 449. But it seems that there are still some patches of building material deposit that actually belong to the lens 15380, they are just located more to the west and the fragments of wallplaster seem to to be rarer. In the eastern part of the unit/space 449, u. 16936 is already quite close to surface 16947.
