Unit 17457
Category: Skeleton dug in 2008
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: neolithic burial
Data Category Information: none
Discussion: The body was placed on a kind of a mat which also seemed to cover part of the upper body. Several grave goods/ personal belongings were found within the grave. Shell bead necklace, copper tube necklace with string inside the tube, piece of textile and leather (?) attached to the whole combination. There was also black/white and one pink stone bead anklet found around the L. ankle. 3 shells. One painted red inside. Blue pigment and bone spatula placed in a leather (?) pouch - yellow brown pigment around and under this cluster were placed near the feet possibly in another bag or basket.
This burial seemed to be the earliest in the sequence.

Left Arm: Bent under the body
Right Leg: Highly bent. Knee is near head. Foot is missing.
Left Leg: Highly bent under the body. Foot is missing. Anklet around the ankle.
Other comments: The mat seems to be under the body but part of it also goes over the body on the shoulder. Several animal holes disturbed the burial esp feet area and destroyed the matting.
