Discussion: This is a midden layer situated underneath the wall in N-S alingment- u. 17661. It was composed of thin layers and lenses of ash and clay. Above its southern part a row of bricks was situated, recoded as . 17685.No bricks were recorded in its northern part. This unit compresed a part of larger midden located to the north (u. 17636). Basal boundary of this unit was sloping N and was defined arbitrarly. A cluster of animal bones (u. 17685) was recorded within this unit, in its N part.
