Unit 19634
Category: Cut dug in 2011
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: Burial Cut
Data Category Information: Description: burial
Dimensions: .78 m EW x .52 m NS x .19 m deep
Discussion: This cut, dug into plaster floor surface (19645), contained the juvenile skeleton (19635) likely aged 2-3 years. The cut is extremely large for the small skeleton, especially when the degree to which its creators carved an overhang in the northeast corner is considered. This may be due to the extreme compaction of the soil in its upper layers; digging through the fill in the northeast corner was noticeably easier. The finding of adult bone at the base of the cut in this overhang may explain this, as it may be the softer fill from an earlier cut truncated by [19634].
