Dimensions: 3.5 m EW x 1.49 m NS x 0.02 m 

 

Discussion: Consistent occupation layer across SE quadrant of space-- first occupation layer predating platform f. 3529, bin f. 3536, and platform f. 3535. X-finds found together in corner of room. Removing this layer revealed several hearths, including (19657) in the same location as six previous hearths-- and also reached the base of the ladderscar f. 3523. 

 

Recognition: consistent occupation deposit across SE quadrant 

Definition: mostly clear- except for LOE along south wall 

Execution: trowel, brush 

Condition: hot 

Consistency: friable to firm 

Colour: mottled-- yellowish brown, greyish brown, dark grey 

Texture: silty clay 

Bedding: composite 

Inclusions: ash, charcoal, bone, concentrated around oven 

Post-depositional Features: ladder scar f. 3523 

Basal Boundary: truncated oven visible, also multiple hearths & platform f. 3538
