Description: primary backfill in Sp.553 

Discussion: This is an arbitrary layer that overlaid architectural features in Sp.553. It consisted of 1960's backfill mixed with material coming most probably from heavily eroded internal features. The layer was only partially removed as the main goal of 2016 excavation was to define and excavate fire installations within Sp.553 in order to collect botanical samples suitable for radiocarbone dating.

Inclusions: aggregates (brick, mortar, wall/floor plaster fragments) 

Post-depositional Features: disturbance by animals 

Basal Boundary: in some parts constructional while in others faint and arbitrary
