Unit 20224
Category: Layer dug in 2012
Area: TPC
Interpretive Categories: constructed edge of basin
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: feature; Description: basin; Material: brick; Deposition: homogeneous
Discussion: U. 20224 is the built-up edge of f. 3965, which appears to be a basin from the Neolithic occupation of the site. It is made of orange mud-brick, and was left unexcavated at the end of the 2012 season.
2013: This structure was excavated in the 2013 season as we were trying to determine the architecture in the trench. It was extremely compact and contained no finds. The presence of this structure in the trench is curious, as it seems to be a standing remnant of a building otherwise destroyed by terracing cuts [30228] and [30229]. Below this unit was the mud-brick of f. 7252 and f. 7253.
