Unit 20515
Category: Layer dug in 2012
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: mortar
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: building; Material: mortar; Deposition: homogeneous
Dimensions: W-E 0,82 x N-S 0,22 x 0,49 m
Discussion: Associated with bricks U.20214.
It was possible to record 8 courses of the mortar that varied in the height. The latter varied within the courses between 2 and 4cm (from the top: I-4cm; II-3cm; III-2cm; IV-3cm; V-3; VI-3.5; VII-3; VIII-4cm ). Considering the texture, that comprised of different material (such as high density of plaster and clay) it seems that the components for preparing the mortar were gathered randomly, and the activity of blocking the niche (F456) might have been realized in demanding, ad hoc circumstances.
