Unit 20912
Category: Layer dug in 2013
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: Clay accumulated deposits,Clay packing (infill)
Data Category Information: Location: building; Deposition: homogeneous
Description: More heights were not taken due to the impossibility of fitting the pole under the S wall undercut.
Discussion: Thick layer of clay packing in SW corner of excavated area, very different in both texture and composition from the building infill (U.20627). It consisted of an orangish yellow-brown packing with massive structure and very few inclusions. It seems that this material was pushed into the south wall undercut. An adult human pelvis and a number of other minor bones were found.
The base of the unit shows a compound layering structure: a succession of very thin microlayers (ca. 5 mm thickness), cross-bedded into one another, probably accumulated deposits.
By observing the western section of the area under excavation it seems evident to me that the infill of the south wall undercut has a different nature (very clayish, less inclusions) than the infill of the rest of the building. Maybe this wall undercut was filled in before the rest of the building?
