Unit 20627
Category: Layer dug in 2013
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: Infill
Data Category Information: Location: building; Deposition: heterogeneous
Discussion: Infill of Sp.87 consisting on an heterogeneous silty clay loam with numerous inclusions of both organic remains and construction materials. Large patches of disaggregated, re-deposited ashes have been found throughout the unit.
Packed clusters of mixed animal (cattle, sheep/goat, pig) and human bones belonging to different individuals have been encountered towards the base of the southern part of the excavated area, most of them lying directly on top of the plaster floor (U.20628). These remains consist mostly of ribs, vertebrae, clavicles and pelvis parts.
In the NW quadrant of the excavated area the cranium of a juvenile individual (Sk.20682) was found lying on its left side. No burial cut was found: the remains were dumped into the infill.
This heterogeneous infill seems to have formed as a result of dumping event(s).
